The 27th Annual Population Approach Group of Australia and New Zealand (PAGANZ) meeting will be held at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), Monash University, Melbourne, on Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July, immediately prior to the 2026 World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP).
Abstract submission and registration are now open! Abstract submission closes June 5th, 2026 at 17:00 AEST. Registration closes July 3rd, 2026.
Discounted PAGANZ registrations, inclusive of both workshops and scientific program, are provided for those PAGANZ members attending both PAGANZ and WCP. PAGANZ student members may b eligible to apply for financial support to attend this meeting. See prizes-and-scholarships for more details.
Scientific Program
The scientific program will take place from midday on Saturday July 11th 2026 and will end in the afternoon on Sunday July 12th 2026. We aim to feature a full day of engaging pharmacometrics research, including our ISoP keynote speaker.
Population analysis workshops (PAWs)
As usual, we will offer Beginners and Intermediate workshops. These will begin on Friday July 10th 2025. The workshops will consist of lectures and hands-on exercises at a computer. During the hands-on exercises, tutors will be available for consultation and assistance. The Beginners workshop for NONMEM and the Intermediate workshop will be conducted as parallel sessions.
The Beginners workshop will introduce the theory and practice of population modelling with NONMEM. Attendance at the Intermediate workshop requires experience with the conduct of at least one population approach analysis.
2026 Intermediate PAWS:
Our 2026 Intermediate PAWS will involve two topics.
Day 1 (1 day): Extrapolation of efficacy and safety of medicinal products in children, facilitated by Prof Della Pasqua, Dr Fran Stringer, Dr Kashyap Patel, and Dr Janna Duong (GSK). This workshop will cover paediatric drug development, model-based scaling and extrapolation, and clinical trial simulations.
Day 2 (0.5 days): RsNLME – PML introductory workshop, facilitated by Professor Steve Duffull from Certara. This workshop will cover writing PK & PKPD models in Phoenix Model Language (PML) and running pharmacometrics workflow in R.
2026 ISoP Keynote Speaker: Prof Oscar Della Pasqua, PhD, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics Group, University College London, UK and Clinical Pharmacology Lifecycle Management, GSK, London, UK.
“From data to model: in silico evidence generation in clinical development and regulatory approval of medicines.”

Prof Oscar Della Pasqua, PhD, is Chair Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the University College London (UCL). He has more than twenty years experience in pharmaceutical R&D, providing clinical pharmacology expertise across therapeutic areas in early and late phases of drug development. His research focuses primarily on personalised medicine, and in particular, on the use of quantitative approaches for the evaluation of medicinal products in clinical development. He is also Executive Director, Clinical Pharmacology at GSK (UK) and Associated Fellow at the National Research Council in Rome, Italy. His academic records are highlighted by his contribution to more than 200 publications in international journals, numerous PhD theses and post-doctoral programmes. Currently, Prof Della Pasqua acts as a Senior Editor of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
Social Program
Details for the Social Program will be provided at a later date. Please note that tickets to the social event need to be purchased separately and are not included in the registration cost.
Who should attend?
The PAGANZ meeting is the Australasian forum for scientists with a research and professional interest in the use of the population approach in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. A strong focus of this meeting is the application of population modelling and simulation techniques in the experimental, clinical and regulatory settings of drug development.
This meeting is designed for scientists and clinicians working in basic or clinical pharmacology research, pharmaceutical industry, regulatory bodies and postgraduate students. The meeting combines a hands-on workshop given by leaders in the field and a scientific meeting giving researchers the opportunity to present and discuss their own work. Our 2026 meeting will be held prior to WCP, this will allow our community to engage with a broader international audience.
